As design architect, we developed the program, shepherded the design through the Historic District Commission process and assembled the team for the renovation of this existing concrete block masonry building. We added a second story and planned for a fully electrical building powered by solar panels on the roof. The existing asphalt parking lot is to be transformed into a terrace and gardens, designed by Bernice Wahler Landscape, and the second story incorporates a rooftop garden. One enters a contemporary gallery space, and progresses through a paneled library space, ascending to an airy, light-filled second floor where each room has a different vibe: from Moroccan bath to Scandinavian birch minimalism to Louis XIV salon.
This modern outdoor kitchen pavilion blends functionality with contemporary design, offering a perfect setting for al fresco dining and entertainment. The structure is framed with sleek steel columns, supporting a pitched roof that provides shelter while maintaining an open and airy feel. A standout feature of the pavilion is the expansive folding glass and steel doors that seamlessly transition from indoor to outdoor living spaces. When open, these doors invite a natural breeze, creating an effortless connection between the kitchen and the surrounding landscape.
The kitchen is fully equipped with premium appliances, including a built-in pizza oven, which becomes the heart of the space. Its stone finish and authentic design provide both form and function, allowing for perfect wood-fired pizzas under the open sky. The counter area features an eye-catching cast glass bar countertop that blends artistry with practicality. The textured, translucent surface catches the light beautifully, creating a striking focal point for guests to gather around. Whether for casual cocktails or a gourmet meal, this pavilion offers a sophisticated yet inviting space for cooking, dining, and entertaining.
